Sustainable Development

International Institute for Governance & Leadership (IIGL) advocates a strong correlation between efficient Public Governance and good Corporate Governance. IIGL believes that conscious efforts by the governments and private sector companies to improve good governance in a balanced manner does lead to Sustainable Development.

International Institute for Governance & Leadership (IIGL) believes that Public Governance and Corporate Governance are like the two faces of the same coin. These two issues are so inextricably intertwined that one cannot be improved without the other; hence both need to be dealt simultaneously. In recent years, governments worldwide have adjusted policies with the aim to encourage a higher level of private sector activity, both domestic and foreign. Markets have been opened, regulatory frameworks liberalized and privatization transactions have become commonplace, all in the name of enhancing the efficiency and competitiveness of companies and countries. One consequence of these far-reaching changes is that practitioners from the worlds of international business, finance and public policy  are now compelled to work closely and constructively with one another across a broad spectrum of activities.

As anindependent institution IIGL through its ‘International Think Tank’,  will create a common platform to encourage leaders from public governance and private sector to work through Public Private Partnership (PPP) towards ‘Sustainable Development’ (SD).

Millennium Development Goals:

The MDGs were launched in July 2002  as an independent project commissioned by UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and supported by the UN Development Group. 189  UN Member states & 23 International organizations have agreed to achieve MDG by 2015. For progress on MDG please read Report of the UN Secretary-General : A life of dignity for all: accelerating progress towards the Millennium Development Goals and advancing the United Nations development agenda beyond 2015.

International Institute for Governance & Leadership (IIGL) supports Millennium Development Goals in its true spirit. The outcome of MDGs has been encouraging. What needs to be done beyond 2015 is already being worked out by the international comity and a new global partnership is emerging.

A NEW GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP:
